Throwback Thursday: Different Types of Tip-Ups

Ice fishing was a little different back in the good old days.

There's nothing like northern pike fishing. The fight these water wolves put up is nothing short of amazing, even using tip-ups through the ice. Here are a few innovative ideas from some Michigan anglers, as well as a few classics.

Those are many different options to get some pike through the ice. I couldn't find the Pro "iceman" tip-ups, but you can find comparable styles for around $30. A windlass tip-up will still run you about $18.

I can't be the only one who's noticed that while style and clothing have drastically changed, tip-ups and tip-up fishing are almost exactly the same! When I use tip-ups, I use the same tactics used in this video, and I thankfully still catch fish. With all the changes in the outdoor industry, it's refreshing to see some tried-and-true techniques.
