The 2020 Fly Fishing Film Tour is Coming to a Theater Near You

The largest fly fishing film tour is coming to a theater near you.

The Fly Fishing Film Tour, or F3T for short, has announced the films, times and dates for their 2020 tour.

F3T is a showcase of the best fly fishing films of the year and it gives anglers a one-of-a-kind experience to socialize with other like-minded sportsmen and women and see exclusive short films (no more than 20 minutes each) from around the world.

Sponsored by Costa, Simms and YETI coolers, past films on the tour have highlighted anglers catching small water trout, big fighting marlin, and everything in between. Others showcase exotic fresh and saltwater fishing, and the locations vary from the familiar American West and British Columbia to more exotic locales like Cuba or Mongolia.

Still others might highlight intimate stories of veterans with a love of fishing or environmental and conservation issues. It's a diverse mix of content that shows the impact of our fishing addiction and the camaraderie goes far beyond just wetting a line.

Speaking of conservation efforts, the event not only helps to build awareness of fishing and fishing issues, but the money from ticket sales goes back to groups like Trout Unlimited and other non-profit outdoor orgs. Each stop on the tour may benefit a different group.

The 2020 Fly Fishing Film Tour is kicking off in Bozeman, Montana on January 25. That stop and Missoula, Montana, Boise, Idaho, Portland, Oregon, Salt Lake City, Utah, Grand Rapids, Michigan and Minneapolis, Minnesota will all host two showings.

This year the tour is showcasing 11 hand-picked films. Here are the titles.

  • Common Threads - A Thrive Visuals Production
  • Project Rainbow - A Hog Leg Fly Fishing Production
  • Machaca - A Botanical Tale - Tropical Fly Collective
  • Expectations - A Van-O-White Production
  • Baja Lines - A KGB Production
  • DOWNUNDER - Tassie to Cape - An Aussie Fly Fisher Production
  • Hank Patterson's Guide School - A Trout Jousters Production
  • Cosmoledo Junkie - A Flyfish-Adventures Production
  • Whitewater - A Beattle Outdoor Production in association with Off the Grid Studios
  • Relentless Pursuit - A Captain Jack Production
  • Time - A Fly Lords Production

The F3T also gave a little taste of what's to come in this year's films in their press release.

"In 'Common Threat' from Thrive Visuals, fly fishing is the glue that holds several generations of Texas family together through the loss of a beloved family member. The recovery of the Gunnison River from whirling disease, told in 'Project Rainbow' from Hog Leg Fly Fishing, is the story of how a dedicated group of anglers and researchers saved one of the West's great fisheries for the next generation. 'Time' from Fly Lords profiles Lefty Kreh and Flip Pallot, who both taught and inspired thousands of anglers," their press release reads.

Sounds like some interesting and fun films!

Many tour stops will also host giveaways at these screenings through a raffle. You could have the chance to win anything from a new YETI cooler to a guided fishing trip somewhere exotic.
