Bear hunting doesn't get much better than this.
The Last Frontier of Alaska is a dream destination for most bear hunters for a good reason. The chance at a gigantic brown bear is the chance of a lifetime. As if that wasn't enough, there is also the breathtaking scenery that serves as backdrop for the hunter for these amazing large carnivores.
Taking a fly-in trip deep into the wilderness is a special treat. There are few areas left on earth where you can truly escape civilization like this. The backcountry will test all your hunting skills in ways you never thought possible.
Don't take our word for it. Adam and Tana with Stuck N The Rut are hunting brown bears deep in the backcountry in this video with the goal of getting Tana one with her bow. What unfolds next is a truly memorable and heart-stopping encounter with a blonde Alaskan giant deep in the backcountry.
It doesn't get much more exciting than that when it comes to bear hunting. Going eye-to-eye with a giant predator with ferocious jaws and claws with only a bow in hand? That takes some guts. Tana said she did it to get over her fear of bears. If that didn't do the trick, we're not sure what will! These hunters had to deal with extremely cold temperatures and howling winds in order to sneak in close enough for the harvest. It appears it was all worth it in the end.
The wind did catch and carry Tana's arrow a little bit, but the shot was still fatal. And, thankfully, the big bruin decided to run away from the hunters rather than towards them. The big sow probably never knew what hit her. To make things even better, this bear was a beautiful golden brown/blonde color phase that most hunters dream about shooting.
It's telling what a chore it is to pack out the meat from a brown bear that they appeared to have shot this animal in the afternoon, but they don't get back to camp until well after darkness has fallen. For a DIY-styled hunt, this was an impressive showing. Congrats on your nice bear Tana!
