This video will make every parent want to throw up.

There's a reason National Park Service officials have become broken records when it comes to keeping a safe distance from wildlife. In a nutshell, it comes down to the fact people still haven't learned.

Despite countless warnings, people continue to get too close to wild animals, or, in this case, let their children get too close.

The following footage depicts every parent's worst nightmare, as a 9-year-old girl from Odessa somehow ended up mere feet from a wild bison without any adult supervision along the Observation Point Trail in the Old Faithful Geyser area of Yellowstone National Park Monday afternoon.

Acting in self-defense, the bison attacked the young girl and launched her into the air. According to a report from WFLA, there were about 50 people hanging 5-10 feet away from the bison for about 20 minutes before it finally attacked.

The clip is disturbing to watch, so view discretion is advised.

It surely isn't uncommon for animals to attack when they feel cornered or threatened, so it should've come as no surprise to these tourists when the unthinkable happened.

You can still enjoy wildlife from a little farther away, and yet people continue to push the limits without considering the consequences.

Of course, we can't blame the 9-year-old for wandering through, not to mention there were so many others doing the same thing. But this video certainly begs the question, "Where are the parents?"

Fortunately, while the girl was taken to receive medical attention from park officials at the Old Faithful Lodge and later the Old Faithful Clinic, she was ultimately released and sent home.

No citations have been issued at this point in the investigation, but we'll be sure to keep you up to date here at Wide Open Spaces.
