And April's Moron of the Month Award Goes To...

Cool if you're going to shoot, but getting within feet of a rutting bull moose for the sheer thrill? Maybe not the smartest.

We've highlighted a wide range of morons over the last little while here at Wide Open Spaces, from the guy who thought it'd be cool to wrestle an 11-point buck to the fella who figured he'd get his kicks from dressing up in a T-Rex costume to play paddy-cake with a full grown alligator.

Did you know that moose attack more people than bears and wolves combined? In the Americas, they injure more people than any other wild animal, outranked worldwide only by the hippopotamus. It's no secret that the fall rut is the most dangerous, and when frightened or provoked, bull moose can become aggressive toward humans.

The following video reminds us of our first Moron of the Month award. Similar to that one, we once again have a hunterwithout a gun or bow—luring a large bull moose in close. No big deal if your plan is to harvest it, but we're left scratching our heads as to why someone would want to get within a foot or two of a big bull for no apparent reason.

Luckily for him, the moose chose to flee rather than fight.

What are your thoughts? Harassing wildlife for no other reason than to shoot a 'cool' video? We're kind of leaning towards that.

Wild animals can be unpredictable. They can turn on a dime, and for those that have been up-close and personal to a rutting bull moose, it's not the place you really ever want to be.
