Talk about not so magical. A tourist is suing Disney for $50,000 for pain and suffering that they dealt with over an alleged bed bug infestation — yikes.

When you are as large as Disney, lawsuits are bound to happen. However, typically when I read about them, they are someone slipping on a floor or getting injured on a ride. This is the first time I am hearing of this particular issue at Mickey's house. Apparently, Mickey and Minnie have not been up-to-date with their exterminator, because one guest is claiming to have suffered from an alleged bed bug infestation.
The NY Post shared that "David Besse is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 after he was bitten numerous times by cimicidae ('bed bugs') during his stay." Bessed had been staying at Disney's All-Star Sports Resort back in 2022 when the supposed incident occurred. Many guests select the All-Star Sports Resort because it is one of Disney's more budget-friendly options. However, no one wants the lack of dollar signs to come with an influx of bed bugs.
Although Disney has yet to publicly address the issue, a tourist suing Disney over an alleged bed bug infestation does not look good for them.
More Insight Into The Potential Bed Bug Infestation
According to the Post and WDWNT, Besse supposedly suffered immensely from this bed bug infestation. He suffered " scarring, bodily injury, pain and suffering, disability, and mental anguish." All of this was in addition to "a loss of the capacity for the enjoyment of life, medical expenses, loss of earnings, loss of the ability to earn money, financial loss, and property damage." Furthermore, he claims that this is all at the hands of Disney and their negligence.
In addition to these charges, he is claiming that the hotel did not maintain proper maintenance. Nor did they use "insecticidal dust in the hallways and rooms." He also pointed out that the Disney hotel failed to "use an active mattress liner, and failed to use mattress encasements to protect against fluids and stains."
