Now there is something you don't see every day. I am sure flight attendants are used to dealing with disgruntled passengers. After all, flying is no longer the most enjoyable experience. However, I doubt that many of them are used to being accosted by such passengers. Unfortunatley, one elderly woman was so enraged with her situation that she decided to take things to the next level. This woman was placed on the no-fly list after she slapped a flight attendant.
Elderly Woman Slapped A Flight Attendant In A Fit Of Rage
The NY Post shared some of the details surrounding this encounter. The outlet shared that the assault occurred on April 3. It happened aboard a "Tigerair Taiwan flight from Fukushima, Japan, to Taipei, Taiwan." As the plane was beginning to make its descent, the pilot announced that all passengers should remain in their seats with their seatbelts fastened — typical instructions.
However, one woman thought that the rules did not apply to her. Instead of listening and remaining in her seat, she opted to stand and put her shoes on. Naturally, cabin crew did not support this decision. Why would you stand and put your shoes on as the plane is beginning its descent? A flight attendant was walking down the aisle, conducting safety checks, when she noticed a 71-year-old woman out of her seat.
According to the NY Post, it was during this safety check that the flight attendant "inadvertently knocked into the senior." It was that simple mistake that caused utter mayhem. After the accidental bumping, the elderly woman became enraged and began to tell of the flight crew. Ever the professional, the flight attendant who bumped into her apologized and offered her medical assistance.
A witness to the event shared that the woman declined any treatment, claiming it "wasn't serious", yet continued to holler at the flight attendant for the mistake. Then, in her fit of rage, the elderly woman slapped the flight attendant, escalating the entire situation.
Woman's Rash Action Is Rewarded With The No-Fly List
Naturally, everyone was stunned by the act of violence. No one could understand why this elderly woman had slapped the flight attendant, who had remained professional the entire time. Also, the crew did not take kindly to the act of violence against one of their crew members. Therefore, police were notified and came aboard the plane as soon as it landed at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport.
The outlet shared that "the Aviation Police Bureau boarded the plane and apprehended" the elderly woman who slapped the flight attendant. After this bizarre incident, both the flight attendant and the elderly woman shared that they will be pressing assault charges against one another. Additionally, the flight attendant shared that she will be suing her attacker over "public insult" as well.
