Honestly, I find this more disturbing than anything I have ever written before. I genuinely cannot understand the cruelty of some people. And it appears I am not alone in my horror and disgust. Law enforcement and animal control officers who responded to the scene were left rattled and disgusted. After finding several dead canines washed ashore on Washington State Island, they now know "there is a diabolical person out there."
Horror Unfolds After Several Dead Canines Wash Up On Shore

The NY Post revealed some of the details surrounding this ghastly case. 20 dead canines were found washed ashore on Washington State Island, but that wasn't even the most disturbing part. The poor animals had been skinned and had their front paws removed. Additionally, "some were found with orange twine tied around their necks." While they have not confirmed whether the bodies belong to domestic dogs, wolves, foxes, or coyotes, Skagit County Fire District 17 Chief Olivia Cole shared that it was easy to tell the bodies belonged to dogs.
Her main reasoning was that their fur did not match the color pattern of coyotes. When speaking to Go Anacortes, she shared, "Most coyotes don't have black and white fur on them unless they're a hybrid." The animals were found all over the island in a span of two weeks. The first six carcasses were discovered on Gueme Island by beachgoers. After responding to the scene, The Post shared that animal control officers found five more dead canines along the shoreline.
Later, police confirmed that "An additional deceased canine was recovered from the La Conner Channel." A couple of days later, "eight more carcasses were collected from the beaches of Guemes Island." Thus bringing the grim total of bodies to 20. Currently, not much is known about this creepy mystery other than the fact that it is truly disturbing. 10 of the dead canines have been sent to a local veterinarian. There, the vet will perform a necropsy and DNA testing to hopefully uncover some answers.
