Well, there's no experience quite like the first time. Come along with Marcus Hockett as he takes his first Coues deer on a hunt down in Arizona.
Though they don't aren't nearly as big as elk or mule deer, taking a nice Coues deer buck is quite an accomplishment due to the difficulty involved in the hunt.
Marcus Hockett is Randy Newberg's camera guy and field producer from Fresh Tracks and is a pretty experienced hunter with a number of nice bucks and bulls under his belt. However, he only recently took his first Coues deer.
Those diminutive creatures are really tough to spot and finding a big buck is a true challenge, even in the best deer habitat.
However, he really made the most out of his hunt and didn't squander the opportunity to take a nice buck when he got the chance.
Watch the video below to see how his public land Coues deer hunt went down.
Nice work Marcus! That's a heck of a buck!
Check out this video to see how he went about making a skull mount of that very same buck at his campsite before flying back home to Montana.
