Tactical Tip: When a Sling is More Than Just a Way to Shoulder Your Rifle

This former special forces operator demonstrates how a sling is more than just a way to shoulder your rifle, but also an essential part of your gun.

Kyle Lamb and Viking Tactics demonstrate how lessons from the battlefield have been transferred to make you a better rifleman. It's all part of learning some improvements to the two-point sling.

In this short tutorial, Mr. Lamb shows how you can have a better two-point sling that allows you to get your rifle into action faster, and how it can be used as a shooting accessory to stabilize for that shot.

A sling is a super important part of your shooting gear and lets face it, there are times when you are hiking or glassing with your rifle slung and a good animal steps into sight. Being able to effectively swing that long gun off your shoulder and into action, while using it to better steady your shot, is a critical skill.

Like with any other shooting drill, practice getting your rifle off your back and the butt smoothly into the shoulder. It can mean the difference between a trophy on the ground or the fleeting sight of that animal running away.

Have a look in your gun safe and see if it's time to reassess the sling you have on your favorite rifle.
