Watch: Seagull Swallows Squirrel Whole, Stuns People Watching

The video is both awe-inspiring and disturbing.

Seagulls are known for eating some crazy things, hunting or scavenging for whatever is available at the time. Discarded fries on the beach? Check! Mussel from the sand? Yup! A large black squirrel? Why not?

Now, that last one almost seems impossible, given their similar sizes. But thanks to one TikTok user, we get to witness exactly what it takes for a seagull to gulp down this furry meal (and it's easier than what this fox went through to eat a squirrel).

Unbelievable A seagull swallows a black squirrel The law of the jungle survives.

The video shows the bird picking up the squirrel with its beak and launching it into its mouth. Then, the seagull goes into beast mode as it ever so slowly gulps down the rodent. From the outside looking in, it seems as if the endeavor takes a lot of effort—until you realize the whole video is less than a minute long.

Despite the short amount of time, the bird doesn't have all of its lunch in its mouth before flying away. A little tuft of fur from the squirrel's tail still hangs out of the seagull's mouth as it takes flight. While the video doesn't show if the squirrel was dead or alive before the opportunistic eater swooped in, gulls are known for eating carrion—so the squirrel may have been recently dead.

Either way, the footage disturbed the TikTok-universe, and understandably so. We've all seen gulls eating weird things, but this certainly takes the cake—and from the comments, viewers definitely agree.

"Is this a magic trick?" one viewer wondered. Another mused that the squirrel must have been "dead or very small." Someone else asserted that "seagulls are too advanced now," and another said what we're all thinking: "I'm traumatized. I will never look at them the same."

While it's shocking for just about everyone, one pragmatic viewer snapped everyone back to reality: "It's called the circle of life, people." The circle of life, indeed.
