Savage Unveils New AccuFit Guns for 2019

The new 110 High Country rifle and 212/220 bolt-action turkey shotguns are purpose-built firearms that offer the convenience of Savage's AccuFit modular stock system.

Savage's lineup of AccuFit-equipped bolt-action firearms continues to expand with the introduction of two new specialty firearms for 2019.

The new 110 High Country centerfire rifle offers features that make it ideal for making long shots in rough country, and comes in at $1,129 MSRP.

The new 212 and 220 Turkey bolt-action shotguns, which were previously only available through Savage's Special Orders Department, are purpose-built gobbler guns priced within reach of most hunters at $695 and $779.

Here's the 220 Turkey (top) and the 110 High Country (bottom).

Savage's revolutionary AccuFit system allows each shooter to customize their firearm's comb height and length of pull for a perfect fit—some- thing not found on other guns.

"We started thinking a lot more about the individual shooter—what their unique needs are and what drives them to ultimately go to a gunsmith," said Savage Senior Marketing Manager Beth Shimanski. "That's when we decided to really raise the bar and make the gun fit better too, and the AccuFit system was born."

Each AccuFit stock system comes with easy-to-replace comb inserts and length of pull spacers. With a few minutes worth of adjustments, each shooter can turn their factory firearm into a custom-fit gun—without the hassle or cost of visiting a gunsmith. Establishing a proper stock fit allows the shooter to shoulder and fire the gun comfortably and quickly. The only tool required to customize the stock on your AccuFit gun is a Phillips head screwdriver.

Proper length of pull allows for better trigger control which improves accuracy. Plus, young shooters can have a firearm that can "grow" as they do, eliminating the need to have the stock professionally adjusted. When the height of comb risers matches the profile of a shooter's face, the eye naturally aligns with the optic so they can shoot faster and more comfortably from any position.

"AccuFit is a game-changer that will allow hunters to confidently make the toughest shots in all conditions," said Shimanski. "It was a great success on ten models last year, and we are happy to expand it with additional models for 2019."

Gobbler Guns

The Savage Model 212 (12-gauge) and 220 (20-gauge) bolt-action Turkey shotguns are built around the Model 110 rifle action, which is machined from steel bar stock and secured three-dimensionally along its entire length by the AccuStock internal chassis.

Their blued, 22-inch carbon steel, smooth-bore barrels are free-floating and secured to the receiver using a Model 110-style locking nut that ensures shot-to-shot consistency.

A user-adjustable AccuTrigger provides a light, crisp pull, and the AccuFit system allows hunters to customize length-of- pull and comb height for precision you won't find in any other turkey gun. The detachable, two-round magazine enables quick loading, and the oversize bolt knob helps operation with gloved hands.

Both the 212 and 220 Turkey come with synthetic stocks that feature Mossy Oak Obsession camouflage, plus the metalwork has a non-glare matte finish for maximum concealment.

A top rail that allows the shooter to easily mount an optic, and a removable extra-full turkey choke is included. The threaded barrel accepts Winchester choke tubes.

Long-Range Longing

Long range hunters will appreciate the long list of standard features on the new Savage Model 110 High Country rifle for big game. We got to see it up close at SHOT Show 2019, and the crowd around it nearly prevented us from getting any good video footage. It was that popular.

This long-range rifle is built to minimize weight and maximize accuracy with a spiral-fluted barrel and bolt, as well as the Model 110 action secured three-dimensionally along its entire length within the AccuStock internal chassis.

Like other 110 rifles the High Country features a floating bolt head and a barrel nut that ensures reliable headspacing for consistent accuracy. The AccuFit system lets hunters customize length- of-pull and comb height of the TrueTimber Strata synthetic stock. The receiver is stainless steel and it has a detachable box magazine.

Plus, the user-adjustable AccuTrigger offers a crisp, clean pull critical for making precise shots at extreme distances.

The High Country's low-friction PVD coating on the barrel, receiver and other critical parts is harder than competing finishes and protects against corrosion and heat. At just 2 to 4 microns thick, the coating does not interfere with the rifle's tight tolerances.

Other key features include overmolded grip surfaces and a threaded muzzle (magnum calibers include a muzzlebrake with taperlock interface). The new 110 High Country is available in 11 calibers from .243 Winchester to .300 Win. Mag. to 6.5 Creedmoor, including versatile high-mountain cartridges like the flat-shooting .280 Ackley Improved, 7mm Rem. Mag. and the hot new 6.5 PRC. MSRP for the new Model 110 High Country is $1,129. Hunting rifles like this don't come at prices like that.

Having a gun that's dependable and accurate is critical when you're trying to make the shot of a lifetime, and Savage Arms is aiming to offer the best purpose-built guns for any hunting adventure, whether that leads you into the back country or the big timber.

The Savage AccuFit system does that, and helps make sure whatever you expect out of your bolt-action rifles, you get it. The shooting sports shouldn't be confusing or otherworldly expensive.
