Why Pets Make Our Lives That Much Sweeter

Pets make our lives whole.

Humans have been keeping animals for centuries. Whether it was for necessity due to agricultural needs, or because we worshipped them, animals have been a part of our lives since the beginning of modern culture.

So why do we make room in our lives for animals?

Our need for pets has progressed from necessity to enjoyment; now we choose to take care of pets rather than the other way around. We first domesticated certain animals for food and protection but in modern society, we don't need that from animals anymore. Now, pets hold a more personal place in our lives.

Taking care of something living is an important human tendency. To have a pet rely on you for their well-being validates our purpose in life. We keep pets because we take pleasure in taking care of someone or something.

Pets are also there for companionship. There is nothing more soothing than talking to your pet about your day and not having them judge you or even respond. They are always there when you need a friend to talk to.

Pets also make you active. Whether it is taking your horse out for a ride, taking your dog on a run, feeding the chickens, or chasing your cat around the house in a fun game of tag, your pet gets you moving. And we all know activity keeps you physically and mentally happy.

Life is sweeter with pets. With their funny quirks that make them like little furry people, and the way they rely on you and love you for who you are, pets make life all the better and more whole.
