New York Councilman Caught Poaching Deer, Says Two Sides to Every Story

It doesn't matter who are you. If you poach deer, you deserve what's coming to you.

In a rather sickening story coming out of New York, authorities ticketed Daniel Barney, a town councilman in New Haven, for poaching deer. As the story goes, Barney was charged with hunting deer with a spotlight while in possession of a loaded gun, taking wildlife with the aid of his vehicle from a public highway and taking deer after sunset. It sounds like pretty cut-and-dry poaching. However, Barney says it's not what it appears.

"That was not the case," he said in an interview before his court date. "There are two sides to every story. What actually happened was humane, but not ethical or legal."

The interview went on to report that Barney kept mentioning a "wounded buck."

As a result, Barney received a $1,000 fine and is now under investigation. He faces what could be a five-year suspension from hunting in the state of New York.

We aren't sure when Barney is up for re-election. However, we're guessing his odds of a second term just fell off the table.
