Hunter Receives Barrage of Hate After Posting Pics of Legally Shot Bear

"I've gotten 400 hateful and ignorant comments in 30 minutes and today I've blocked over 2,000 rude and awful people."

No hunter is immune from the wrath of the anti-hunters. We've seen it firsthand with the likes of Kendall Jones, Eva Shockey and most recently, Steve Ecklund. And, truth be told, the vulgar threats and the hate are downright shameful.

Hannah Finley posted a series of pics to her Instagram account in early November, showing the results of a successful bear hunt.

It was the true definition of fair chase—a big boar initially glassed high in the mountains while feeding on acorns, and ultimately put down cleanly with a 611-yard shot.

Every early morning, late night, and hard day just came together and I could not be more proud. So much hard work and dedication was put into this moment...I spotted this beautiful boar high up in the oaks within seconds of hiking into our glassing spot and we watched him as he slowly made his way down the mountainside. Laying down to lazily eat the acorns littering the ground, it was a guarantee that this bear was living it up and that there had been no shortage of food for him. I made the transition from binoculars to a scope and watched him for what felt like years- waiting for him to step out of the oaks and to give me a chance for a shot. In those minutes of waiting I only became more focused and ready. When I finally got my chance I made the 611 yard shot with confidence and finally made impact with my first bear ever! He came to rest against a log on the steepest and thickest hillside that he could have. At that moment I felt everything from excitement to respect and shed tears of joy. All of my hard work had finally paid off. The next challenge to conquer was figuring out how to pack this boar out of the extremely rough country and I was ready for it! I have so much respect for these beautiful animals and the country they live in. I am so blessed to do what I do. #hunt_az #kuiunation #fairchase #thisishunting

Fast-forward to New Years day. Finley's account experiences a maelstrom of hate-filled messages, many of them highlighted with threats.

The following UK-based animal rights activist looks to be the first to fan the flames, after she re-posted Hannah's original post:

This girl is proud that she killed a harmless bear who was simply eating acorns in his own habitat. She fired a shot from a distance like a coward yet considers it to be a massive accomplishment and says she respects bears. Do these hunters actually believe the nonsense that they say? RIP bear 💔 #KillingIsNotASport #GetANormalHobby #ShootWithCamerasNotWithGuns. Read her words below: _ #Repost @kuiu_official ??? Other anti-hunting pages quickly followed suit.

We'd love to share all the hate-filled messages the members of these anti-hunting groups posted to the above two pages, but almost every one is filled with vile profanity. Finley did share a screenshot in an IG story of some of the tamer messages she received:

Hannah Finley

As of Jan. 2, at least 10 anti-hunting pages have shared her pictures, resulting in thousands of hateful messages and threats. She decided to address the situation in this post to her Instagram account:

Two days ago a vegan ?activist? reposted the picture of me and my bear calling on her followers to attack me and hunters like me. Now my pictures have been shared between ten different anti hunting pages and I have been getting thousands of messages and comments. I?ve gotten 400 hateful and ignorant comments in 30 minutes and today I have blocked over 2000 rude and awful people. They just keep going and there have been many messages calling me a coward for not responding to threats. In reality I just will not play along with these awful people nor will I stoop to their levels. At the end of the day I don?t wish any of you anti hunters harm, just wish you would find a better way to spend your day like rebuilding wildlife habitat. Oh wait... hunting groups do that kind of stuff. I am always proud to be a hunter! I am proud that my money is going towards wildlife conservation every day and Im proud that I work for my food! Never apologize for being a hunter! #hunt_az #itsinmynature #iamsportsmen #keephammering #whatgetsyououtdoors #ihunt #girlsincamo #proudtobeahunter #neverapologizeforbeingahunter

Threatening to do harm to someone is never okay, and it's illegal. If these anti-hunters genuinely cared about life, they wouldn't wish death on a human. That's a no-brainer.

We know there are folks against hunting. That'll never change. We know it isn't for everyone. However, you don't see are hunters threatening vegans or anti-hunters and starting smear campaigns against them.

What the majority of us do, if questioned about the sport we love, is offer educated information in regards to conservation, habitat restoration and the value of wild game on the plate. We don't troll or attempt to take anyone down. That's just not who we are.

Finley responded in a mature fashion, which some of her critics could take as a lesson.

Keep doing what you're doing, Hannah! Just like you said, never apologize for being a hunter!
