Have You Heard the One About the Bear That Ran a 10-mile Race in Colorado?

Runners expect to see all kinds of things during training and a race, but a bear?

That's what happened during the Garden of the Gods 10-Mile Run Sunday, June 10. According to participant Donald Sanborn, the bear joined the race at about the 5-mile mark.

Okay, it didn't really join the race through the Garden of the Gods Park. The critter just wanted to cross the road. Or maybe it just wanted to give some of the slower runners a jolt of adrenaline.

Sanborn says he just wanted the animal to get across the road so he could get on with his race. It's difficult to say what other participants were thinking. Judging by the looks on a few faces in the video, there may have been concern about having clean shorts.

Of course, the real question is, "Why did the bear cross the road?"
