Good To-Go Donates 900 Dehydrated Meals to Food Banks in #DoBetter Campaign

Good To-Go, the camping and backpacking meal company, has stepped up to help food banks across the nation.

There was no better time than the present for our favorite dehydrated meal company, Good To-Go, to initiate yet another donation project, which concluded with 900 donated meals to food banks in April of 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic and the difficult circumstances that arose from it made the well-needed donations even more important.

Good To-Go, with the help of their customers, sent more than 900 meals in April to Feeding America food banks in Maine, Chicago and Los Angeles. The company's #DoBetter campaign, which kicked off last year, saw one meal donated for every two meals purchased on their website. In an era when many Americans are seeking this kind of support for the first time, Good To-Go is helping make it easier.

"When we got together last Fall to pick the recipient of our third annual #DoBetter campaign, the group decided a food bank would be ideal," said Good To-Go co-founder, David Koorits. "Food banks are the first line of defense when a natural disaster occurs. Since COVID has turned our world upside down, we've heard of food banks seeing a two-fold increase in demand. Food is essential for life and we're grateful that we've been able to help in a small way."

Previous #DoBetter campaigns have supplied over 1,600 meals through partnerships with hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico and veteran-led Team Rubicon. In 2020, customers were able to choose between three food banks associated with Feeding America: Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, Greater Chicago Food Depository, or Good Shepherd Food Bank of Maine.

"Our main concern at the Food Bank right now, during the COVID-19 pandemic, is access to shelfstable foods," stated Kristen Miale, president of Good Shepherd Food Bank. "We had to pivot our model of distribution overnight to pre-packed boxes for our over 450 partner agencies to distribution via no/low contact methods. This meant an increased need for shelf-stable foods. Many of our purchased product orders have been severely delayed or even canceled, this donation from Good-to-Go couldn't have come at a more perfect time."

Since we discovered Good To-Go last year, our camping meals have significantly improved, and we're proud of the company for going above and beyond what you'd expect.
