A Driver Got a Ticket for... Singing Too Loud?

Huh?

Yep, you read that right. A Montreal man was ticketed $149 for singing too loudly in traffic. On the 27th of September Taoufik Moalla was enthusiastically singing "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)" in his car.

Unfortunately, the police were not inclined to dance at that moment. Clearly, they were not impressed by Moalla's singing and proceeded to ticket him.

Ticketing somebody for singing in traffic seems quite petty. Now if he was "screaming" as the police had stated, a fine seems a bit more reasonable; if he was screaming, he could be a distraction to surrounding drivers and could potentially cause an accident.

Moalla told the New York Post, "I don't know if my voice was very bad and that's why I got the ticket, but I was very shocked," Moalla said. "I understand if they are doing their job, they are allowed to check if everything's OK, if I kidnapped someone or if there's danger inside, but I would never expect they would give me a ticket for that."

Disturbing the peace by way of screaming is punishable by a fine of anywhere from $50 to $1,000 CAD for the first offense and $100 to $2,000 for any subsequent violations.

Well, there you have it folks. You can get a ticket for singing in your own car.
