Save money from buying an ice auger and make one out of your cordless power drill.
Most of us work very hard for our money, but we can't speak for the politicians. But let's be honest, most of us work all week to play all weekend. If you're an ice fisherman and you're in need of an ice auger, there are plenty of options for you to choose from.
Of course, you can go the cheapest route and use a hand auger. These have always worked great and you can get them for less than $50. Now, let's say you have a lot of holes to cut, you're physically cut out for the job but you still don't have the money for an ice auger. Well, that leads us to two options: The redneck way (a chainsaw) which I've done for years, or the way DIY Sportsman shows us in the video below.
Now of course he's using a pretty powerful drill, so if you don't own one, this is a great way to kill two birds. DIY Sportsman also talks about a specific auger adapter that he discusses in another video, directly sharing the link. He found the Vendetta Precision Auger Adapter was a little better for his build after reading through several of his YouTube comments.
Whatever it takes to get you outside to do more hunting or fishing works for me. Since we'd be using a drill, I'd consider this part of the honey-do list and feel comfortable knowing I was productive throughout the weekend while putting in a few tip-ups and enjoying a few cold ones.
