4 Awesome Concept Cars From the 2018 Geneva Motor Show

Autonomous technology and battery vehicles were totally bae at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.

Car enthusiasts flocked to the 2018 Geneva Motor Show to get a taste for what dreams may come in the happy world of automobiles. Electric vehicles and autonomous technology were at the helm, driving away with plenty of recognition as not only the stuff of concept car motormania, but of tech that's actually within reach.

From futuristic interiors to sleek exteriors, we rounded up four concept cars that stuck out among the onslaught of Minority Report- or Ready Player One-inspired cars. You pick which one.

Toyota GR Supra Racing Concept

If you're a Gran Turismo fan you've been waiting for the return of this fan favorite. It's been 16 years since Toyota brought production of the GR Supra Racing Concept was brought to a screeching halt.

Now, the new version sports a unique body, noted for a large rear wing. The strong, but lightweight composite material flexes throughout the whole vehicle, including front splitter and rear diffuser, side skirts, and front and rear bumpers. The new version features a lowered front and rear suspension using original equipment components, and Michelin racing tires.

Envision Energy EV Concept

This four-door luxury car is connected to a network of 100GW of renewable assets. The digital energy experts at Envision notes that the car is powered by EnOS, the world's largest energy IoT platform meant to communicate and share energy with other vehicles on the road. What's more the car is set to run solely on renewable energy all of the time and can even connect with homes and buildings. The electric vehicle features four 100kw electric motors and a 100kWh battery pack, offering a 280-mile electric range.

A couple other pretty cool things? The driver gets in by sliding a windscreen forward and passengers can step in through gullwing doors. And instead of a regular steering wheel it boasts an aeronautics-inspired one with thumb touchpads.

Renault EZ-GO

Renault is pressing ahead with its autonomous technology with EZ-GO. The French manufacturer recently debuted plans for connected SYMBIOZ passenger car and at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show it unveiled this zero-emissions "robo-taxi." Self-driving commuter cars, self-driving trucks, self-driving pizza delivery—of course self-driving taxis that aren't Uber are gonna happen. The car only hits about 30 mph (we're serious), but acts more as a slow-going house-on-wheels experience with on-board WiFi connectivity, induction charging for smartphones, and a rather large screen in front of the door.

BMW M8 Gran Coupe

Okay, this one comes with gas, but it still turned some heads. BMW's rather sexy M8 Gran Coupe is the reason why some people just won't ever give up gas-powered cars. Sporting a 4.4-litre turbocharged V8 engine, the four-door coupe has a power output of 600bhp and four-wheel-drive. Set for a 2020 release, BMW is expected to vie for the attention of for-the-hell-of-it drivers who may be eyeing the similar Mercedes-Benz AMG GT, also on display at Geneva.
