When many think of the large caliber .45 acp. they think about the iconic Colt 1911 design. Well there was also a revolver from way back then that shot the same hard hitting .45 caliber cartridge, the Smith and Wesson Model 1917.

In World War One there was a shortage of the Colt 1911 Semi-Automatic Pistols. Smith and Wesson was one of the manufacturers that stepped up with their N-Framed Revolver chambered for the .45 acp. cartridge. Half moon clips were utilized for sure extraction.
