"American Chopper" is back

Rebooted "American Chopper" Showed a Softer Side of the Teutul Family

Back in 2018, American Chopper returned to reveal a kinder gentler side of Paul Teutul Sr. and his son, Paul Jr., years after going off air due to a family and company split.

Senior was hugging people. Paul Jr. wasn't talking back as much. This wasn't your normal American Chopper series. Back after a long hiatus due to family quarrels and company trouble, the Discovery Channel "family" — or series about a family, rather — focused hard on the re-connection of father and son after a bit fallout.

While this wasn't what we were all used to seeing in American Chopper, it does make for great TV if you're already a fan of the show. Some diehard fans may want to see some family fisticuffs go down, but the new episodes, again, revealed a new side to the family and their livelihood motorcycle chop shop.

The new or rebooted, rather, American Chopper offered a softer experience sans shouting matches. Paul Sr. has been in the news as of late, and not in a good way. In March 2018, he was sued for fraud and has also had other monetary and business issues that have taken the wind out of his sails. In July 2019, Teutul filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy, selling his New York mansion for $1.5 million, while also having to part with several prized possessions, including an ATV, a John Deere tractor, and several boats.

Considering what the Teutels, and especially Paul Sr., have been through, it's great to see him not only toned down, but rekindling his relationship with Paul Jr. on the show.
