Imagine driving along the highway when suddenly, a plane crashes into your vehicle. Difficult to imagine, right? That's because when we think of motor vehicle accidents, they typically involve two or more cars. However, this time a plane seems to be the culprit. Insane dash cam footage shows the moment a United Airlines flight slams into a bakery truck on the NJ Turnpike.
Flight Slams Into Truck On NJ Turnpike

CBS shared that "One of the plane's landing gear tires went through the truck's windows and windshield." Talk about terrifying! As a result, the driver suffered injuries and had to be taken to the hospital. The outlet shared that he was treated for "injuries caused by glass in his arm and hand." Additionally, it turns out that this bakery truck wasn't the only object the flight struck.
Reports indicate that Flight UA169 also struck a light pole during its descent. While none of the 221 passengers or 10 crew members aboard the plane were injured, the same cannot be said for all of those on the road. After striking the light post, the post then struck a Jeep also traveling on the NJ Turnpike.
What Caused This To Happen?
Currently, an investigation is underway. United Airlines shared that they are looking into what caused this ordeal. They shared that "Our maintenance team is evaluating damage to the aircraft, and we will investigate how this occurred." It appears as if they are looking at the situation from all possible angles. The company released the following statement. " The investigation will examine multiple factors, including flight operations, meteorological conditions, human performance, crew resource management, aircraft performance, and air traffic control."
Currently, the issue has been deemed an accident, and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said he wants to avoid jumping to conclusions. He shared, "We don't want to get ahead of the facts, and oftentimes the first facts are wrong." Yet, he does admit that there was clearly an issue that occurred. Only time and further investigation will reveal what caused this United Airlines flight to crash into a bakery truck on the NJ Turnpike.
