Japan draws visitors for many reasons. Some people visit for food and culture, others visit for stunning landmarks. However, one of the most popular events that draws people in is Japan's cherry blossom festival. Unfortunatley, certain parts of the country have announced that the festival is canceled this year, and it is all due to tourists and their rowdy behavior.

Japan has a yearly cherry blossom festival that captivates the world. This year's blooms are expected between late March and early April, just a few short weeks away. During this time, the cherry blossom trees erupt with stunning pink flowers, making the city streets appear breathtaking and ethereal. Typically, tourists flock to Japan during this time as the stunning cherry blossoms typically only last 10-14 days.
The influx of tourists rushes to the various locations in Japan that host this festival, hoping for a glimpse of the spectacular event. However, this year, tourists may be disappointed to learn that not every location is hosting the event.
Tourists' Rowdy Behavior Gets Japan To Cancel Its Cherry Blossom Festival
The Weather Network shared the news about this year's festival. First, the network shared a detailed map, showing the various locations in Japan where the festival takes place. Typically, tourists can catch these stunning blossoms in Sendai, Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, and Fukuoka. However, this year, tourists' options may be limited.
One location has announced it will not host its cherry blossom festival this year. Fujyoshida, a city in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan, falls under the Tokyo bloom schedule. That city has announced that it will not be hosting its festival this year. Additionally, they shared that their decision is due to tourists and their behavior. In the past, tourists have done all sorts of abysmal things.
Some of those acts include wandering into private homes and demanding to use the restroom. Other offenses include pushing schoolchildren or locals off the path to get a better view, becoming belligerent, and leaving excessive litter. With all of that in mind, this location decided it wants to discourage tourists from appearing.
Nevertheless, they are still preparing for an influx of tourists to attend Japan's cherry blossom festival. As a result, they are increasing security, as well as adding parking and portable restrooms. They are doing all of this because they anticipate that many people will ignore their announcement of the canceled event and still show up.
