Everyone has their own way of relaxing on vacation. Some people just need a good book and a pool chair. Others like to turn off their minds with a nice glass of their favorite beverage. Some enjoy vaping while taking a stroll on the beach. While everyone has their own method of relaxation, there are certain places where the rules are different. For example, if vaping is your style, you may want to avoid this vacation hotspot. That is because tourists have been facing fines and even jail time for doing so.

If Mexico is on your bucket list, then you may want to kick the vaping habit before you go. The NY Post shared that cruise passengers heading to Mexico have been advised against bringing their e-cigarettes. This comes after the country is "actively enforcing a nationwide ban on vaping devices." This new rule is already in effect, having been officially implemented on January 17.
This new rule was enacted as an attempt to "protect public health." Additionally, it applies to electronic cigarettes, vapes, or similar devices. In addition to banning vaping, the new rule also "prohibits the making, selling, and handling of toxic substances and chemical ingredients." Also, "the illegal use of fentanyl and other synthetic drugs."
If you are thinking, "Oh, my electronic cigarette is not as big a deal as fentanyl," think again. This new rule applies to all of the things mentioned above, and there are steep consequences for having any of them. Even if you purchased your products legally somewhere else, if you are caught with them in Mexico, you could face steep fines and even jail time. Trust me, you do not want to ruin your vacation by ending up in jail.
Many cruise lines have advised their passengers of this new rule and suggest leaving their vapes on board the ship or not bringing them at all. Afterall, a simple mistake of bringing it with you could land you in prison for up to eight years. While some are frustrated by the new rule and think it limits freedoms, others are applauding the attempt to better preserve public safety.
