Viral Puppy Bowl Dog Named Teigan Died Months Before Special Aired Leaving Fans Heartbroken

Puppy Bowl fans were devastated to learn that viral doggie, Teigan, passed away months before the special aired. The pooch, a rescue that used a wheelchair, quickly became a fan favorite during the event.

Teigan was on Team Fluff, which won the Puppy Bowl on Sunday. The show featured more than 150 dogs. Sadly, Teigan's rescue, Perfect Imperfections Rescue in Connecticut, confirmed via Facebook that the dog died last year. Teigan passed away form pneuomonia.

"Teigan on the big screen during the taping of the puppy bowl. It will be bittersweet to her on TV. For those who don't know, Teigan and I spent a day at the rescue taping a segment about Teigan, her condition and her receiving her custom cart made by K9karts," the post read. "A few weeks after we had the taping we traveled to NY and participated in the puppy bowl. It was such a fun experience. We meet so many incredible people from rescues all over the USA. Spending the day in a room full of puppies was an added bonus. Please tune in and help celebrate Teigan. She was such an incredible soul. I'm not sure I will ever get over losing her so soon."

Puppy Bowl Dog Named Teigan Dies

It's not the first time that the poor pooch suffered from pneumonia due to her disability.

"Teigan, my tiny little girl, was so fragile and strong at the same time," the organization wrote in the announcement. "Born with neurological issues and a severely curved spine. When she first arrived to me she almost died from pneumonia."

Sadly, the dog couldn't beat the illness this time.

"I started to get tail wags when I talked to her, and for a moment I was hopeful she would beat this again," the post continued. "But knowing her little body had already suffered through this once... not long after that, she took her last breath."

But her spirit lives on in the hearts of everyone who fell in love with the dog during the special. For that reason, may she never die.
