You Shouldn't be Able to Catch 'em This Big in Little Ponds

You wouldn't think that a small pond in the middle of Kansas would have big bass.

But the anglers in this video keep pulling out some big hogs!

YouTuber Flair starts out a day on the small pond, trying some challenges. First, he uses a telescopic Barbie pole rig with a spin bait. One cast, one fish.

Next, handlining. No rod, no reel. Again, he quickly pulls in a bass. Then, Flair tries a gummy worm. Once again, he pulls in a fish. However, none of them were all that big.

Because of all the bass action on the little pond, he throws out a Deeper to check out what's going on underneath the surface. Depth; about 4 feet. Vegetation on the bottom and bait fish swimming around.

The temperature of the water was between 68 and 71 degrees. Most likely pre- or post-spawn, so the bass were feeding. The potential for big bass action shows up while reeling in the Deeper. A hog goes after the gadget.

After that, Flair and his friends try regular bass tactics with buzz baits, Whopper Ploppers, swim baits and chatter baits.

That's when they start hauling in five-plus pounders and breaking personal bests.

The moral of the story? Don't ignore a pond because it's small. You never know what's lurking beneath the surface.
