2019 Audi Q8 Is the New Flagship SUV

Hailed as the top premium SUV from Audi, the all-new Q8 makes its official debut.

For the 2019 model year, the five-passenger Audi Q8 boasts a number of new features to "deliver everything customers expect from a luxury performance SUV." The Q8 is the new flagship SUV from the brand, and the sixth installment in their crossover/SUV class. This is including the impending arrival of the Audi e-tron.

Design

The 2019 Q8 reportedly introduces the brand's "new SUV design language." This is composed of an octagonal Singleframe® grille, bold lines, and contoured air inlets.

Also referred to as a "coupe," the all-new Audi Q8 is engineered with a sweptback design to boost aerodynamics, thus providing a fluid driving experience.

The frameless doors are complemented by inclined D-pillars, a light strip in the rear, roof rails, exhaust tips, and LED lighting.

The cabin is designed to be more intuitive to the driver, and amenities like three-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, and leather seating come standard.

Of course, a 40/20/40 split-folding rear seat is equipped, creating a class-leading 67.5 cubic feet of cargo room when engaged.

Entertainment

Audi has pulled out all the stops for the first-ever Q8 SUV. The all-new MMI® touch response system wipes out the rotary dial, buttons, and controls implemented in current models and features a cleaner look with two high-resolution touchscreens.

The top 10.1-inch upper display houses the infotainment, while the 8.6-inch lower display contains climate control, comfort, and convenience functions.

Every Q8 comes with the Audi virtual cockpit and smartphone interface. Available options include the Audi phone box, head-up display, and 19-speaker audio system.

Performance

What's new in the performance sector? A 3.0L TFSI® V6 engine that's worth 335 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Integrated is a twin-scroll turbocharger and valvelift system for enhanced responsiveness.

Its 0-60 mph time? A quick 5.6 seconds—an impressive feat for an SUV.

Similar to other manufacturers, Audi is stepping into the mild hybrid game with the introduction of Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle technology. This 48-volt system is placed beneath the cargo floor, and power is transported to a belt alternator from a 10aH battery.

Standard equipment includes quattro® all-wheel drive, a start/stop system and an adaptive damping suspension.

The 2019 Audi Q8 hits showrooms in October. Pricing starts at $67,400.
