17-Year-Old Girl Defends Herself From Intruder with Dad's Gun

Late night intruder meets 17-year-old girl ready with dad's gun.

Kimber Wood was home alone. It was early Monday morning and she was asleep. The 17-year-old from Spokane County, Washington awoke to the sound of someone breaking into her home.

Before leaving, Kimber's parents had warned that there was a suspected car thief on the loose which led Kimber to sleep with her dad's gun under her pillow. When she woke to the sound of someone in the house, she was ready.

Kimber quietly slipped out of bed and hid by her makeup vanity. When the intruder finally made his way into the room she pointed the gun at him and yelled to "Get the (expletive) out of my house!"

The intruder did just that.

Fleeing the room and her home, the intruder stole an ATV on the way out. Likely looking to make a quick getaway from the armed teen. According to the report, Kimber fired off one round at the ground for good measure to encourage him to keep moving.

The suspect is still at large.
