This Deer Casually Greeted Missouri Police During a Traffic Stop

Oh deer, this is not your average traffic stop!

Police officers see a lot of strange things in the line of duty, but this is a new one on us. Some officers with the Excelsior Springs Police Department in Missouri were quite surprised when a deer just showed up randomly at a traffic stop last weekend.

The Department posted stills from a dash cam of the bizarre incident to their Facebook page. They aren't quite sure why the doe decided to show up, but it certainly makes for the strangest dash camera stills we've ever seen.

"During the stop, a deer walked up, checked things out, allowed an officer to pet it, and then calmly walked off," the department's post reads.

They also added the hashtags: #youdontseethateveryday, #thanksforthebackup and #deerwhisperer.

Subsequent replies to the department's post by residents seem to indicate this doe and her fawns are regulars in the area. Perhaps like any good mother, she was just checking things out to make sure her neighborhood was safe for her kids.

Whatever the case may be, it's definitely one traffic stop these officers won't soon forget.
