Jack Russell Terrier Bravely Battles a Cobra

Move over Rikki-Tikki-Tavi, there's a new cobra hunter in town.

Her name is Patsy, and she is a mean, lean Jack Russell terrier from South Africa. You're about to see Patsy shakedown a 4-foot-long Cape Cobra, one of the most venomous snakes in South Africa.

Charles Koekemoer, the man who posted this online video, said Patsy found the snake behind a bookshelf, dragged it out to the lawn and "sorted it out."

You'll see what that means in the clip below. Let's just say, we wouldn't want to be the snake.

Despite their small size, Jack Russell terriers are fierce and aggressive hunting dogs.

In the 19th century, Englishman John Russell first bred these terriers for fox hunting. Russell used these dogs to push foxes out into the open without causing harm to them, as it was considered unethical.

Russell claimed his Jack Russell terriers never tasted blood, but if Patsy in the video above is any indication, Russell might have been stretching the truth just a little bit.

Regardless, who wouldn't want a dog that exterminates cobras from your house?
