Crocodiles Take Down Wildebeest Causing Tourists to Cry

It's no secret that there's a huge disconnect between many members of the public and wildlife. Far too many people have a sanitized view of nature. You can probably thank a lot of those movies featuring talking animals for that. So, when someone comes face-to-face with the harsh realities of nature for the first time, they end getting upset about it. Or at least the tourist in the background of today's video did.

In the footage, several wildebeests are drinking from a water hole when a crocodile jumps up and grabs one of them by the leg. The croc drags its prey into the water. What happens next is one of the tourists starts to audibly get upset over the whole scene in the background audio. In the end, we think the tourist ends up crying more than the animal that's being eaten. Eventually a larger croc shows up on the scene to finish the job the first one started.

Seriously, the wildebeest was the only one who really had anything to cry about in this video. Yet the animal being killed made less of a scene of the whole matter than this tourist did. We can only hope she learned a lesson about how nature operates. Really, we need more people to go out and experience nature like this. We've seen far too many videos of people treating National Parks like a petting zoo, often with disastrous results. We're assuming the person crying is not a child, so it really is kind of embarrassing to hear her acting like this.

This is the food chain in action. There's seldom anything "fair" about it. And even if the wildebeest had gotten away, there's a good chance it could have been killed by a dozen other predators later that day or the next. Such is the reality of life in the African bush.
