Video: This Decoy Brought in a Bird, But It Wasn't a Turkey

Seeing this firsthand was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

When a turkey hunter sets up to call in a gobbler, he or she tries to consider every variable. Where is the sun coming up? How visible are my decoys? Do I have a good shooting lane? Am I setting up in a place with enough turkey sign?

However, there are some things you can't prepare for, no matter how much scouting or research you do.

Here we see the surprise of all surprises, as this hunter's spring turkey setup did attract a bird, but it was no eastern wild turkey.

Watch the video below:

Am I alone in saying I'd almost rather see a bald eagle come in to my decoy than a wild turkey? Could you imagine seeing something like this? How cool!

The other cool thing about this clip is that it shows how big bald eagles really are. Sure that decoy was a hen, but that eagle was unquestionably bigger, which is pretty cool to think about.

What do you think the odds are a person could ever see this twice? Even if this guy only went turkey hunting in that same spot for the rest of his life, I don't think there's any chance he'd ever see an eagle attack his turkey decoy again.
