Video: Leaping Bobcat Takes Down Unsuspecting Deer Fawn

This deer fawn had no clue a bobcat was about to pounce.

The first few months in the life of a deer fawn can be the most precarious.

The odds are stacked against them for survival, and no matter how much time they spend under the protective watch of their mother, there's always those predators that like to go bump in the night.

Maine resident Tara Mitchell shared this incredible trail camera capture, which recorded right around 9 p.m. July 16. As you're about to see, a tranquil scene of Mom and little one peacefully grazing comes to a halt when this stealthy, cunning bobcat arrives.

Sadly, this spotted fawn had no idea what was happening until it was too late.

Nature can be cruel, but somehow it almost always has a way of balancing out in the end.
