Video: How to Handcraft a Knife Set for Mother's Day

If you're scrambling to come up with a Mother's Day gift, drop everything you're doing and watch this.

Mother's Day is a big one. For all of us who are lucky enough to have our mothers in our lives, it's a holiday that needs to take priority over just about everything. It's important that we recognize all these wonderful women do for us and how much they've impacted our lives.

No different than any other holiday, sentimental gift ideas will always prevail over whatever is trending. And, if you want to take it up a notch, there's nothing better than making something yourself.

However, what can you make that would blow her away? How about a handmade kitchen knife set? Everyone has a kitchen, and everyone has to eat. It's the perfect gift!

Fortunately for us, Luke Nichols of Outdoor Boys decided to take the idea to the grinder and bring it to life.

Watch the video below:

You might recognize Nichols from his other YouTube channel, Catfish and Carp. Apparently this guy is the true jack of all trades!

As he said early on, this really isn't that hard of a project for anyone to take on.

"This is very easy," he said. "There's lots of room for creativity and skill, but if you want to just start and get into making knives, you don't need a lot of equipment, you don't need a lot of space and you don't need a lot of skill, frankly. Everything you see here is maybe $200 worth of equipment, tools and supplies, and everything on this table is all I am going to use to build these knives."

You could add different knives to the set, too. I'd probably use stainless steel and go with a chef's knife, a bread knife, a paring knife and a couple steak knives.

He even times his work to show you could knock this out in a day.

You have until Sunday to make this great gift happen!
