Universal Is Closing This Beloved Harry Potter Attraction

If you are planning a trip to Universal in the near future, you may want to read this first.  Recently, the park announced that it will be closing one of its beloved Harry Potter attractions for the time being. However, don't worry, this closure is just temporary. Regardless, it could ruin your vacation if you didn't know about it.

Universal Is Temporarily Closing This Beloved Harry Potter Attraction

DisneyFantatic shared the details surrounding this recent closure. If you are planning a trip to Universal this month, you will want to read this. You will now not be able to ride the Hogwarts Express. That is because starting yesterday, February 9th, the Harry Potter attraction closed down for a two-week maintenance period. The outlet shared that the attraction will remain closed until February 24th.

The Hogwarts Express is a beloved Harry Potter attraction that takes guests between two parks. Specifically, the train transports guests between Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. It is one of the most iconic ways to travel between the two parks. When the train is not up and running, you can still walk over to a different park, but that is more time-consuming.

Additionally, the train is more than just transportation. Instead, it is an immersive Harry Potter experience that allows riders to feel like they are stepping into the books and movies. It features enchanted windows that show scenery from the films, character encounters, and immersive storytelling that changes depending on which direction you are riding in.

Know Before You Go

Trust me when I tell you that not knowing about a Universal closure ahead of time can really dampen your mood. A few years ago, I went to Universal for vacation. I purchased the tickets for both Universal and Islands of Adventure, specifically so I could ride the train between the two parks. Once I arrived in the park that day, I discovered that the train would be closed for weeks for renovation. Not only did I feel cheated out of my money, because without the train I only would have purchased tickets for the Island of Adventure, but I was disheartened.

I had been looking forward to the immersive experience and finally getting to ride the Hogwarts Express. May my past experience be a lesson to you. Be sure to look ahead of time at expected closures so your favorite attraction will not be shut down during your next vacation.
