Turkey Poacher in Missouri Caught Using Bait and an Electronic Call

A turkey poacher in Madison County was caught red-handed.

When a poacher tries to circumvent the rules to try and get their wild game, they make it hard on the rest of us who do things the right way.

On May 3, 2018 the Missouri Dept. of Conservation shared a story in which Madison County Conservation Agent Clayton Lewis found a person actively set up over the pile while also using an electronic call.

Attempting to take a wild turkey over bait or by use of an electronic calling device is illegal in Missouri. So, the person in question (not yet identified) received a citation as a result.

Missouri has an easy way for legal hunters to reach authorities when poaching happens, which is called "Operation Game Thief."

The number to call is 1-800-392-1111.
