The "Texas-Only" Truck Makes Its Return for 2019

The Dallas Auto Show was this past month, and it was the perfect opportunity for Ram to show off its latest Lone Star trim.

As with previous models, the Lone Star special edition will be made available for the 2019 Ram 1500 just to those who live in Texas.

Officially launched in 2002, the Lone Star trim shows no signs of slowing down as Texas' exclusive trim. In fact, more than 250,000 units have been sold over the years, making it Ram's best-selling model in the state.

"The hard-working appeal of the Ram Lone Star has made it a favorite among Texas truck buyers," Head of Ram Mike Manley comments. "Trucks are an important part of Texas life, and Ram trucks are proven to last. Ram's long-lasting reliability has helped the Ram 1500 cement the highest owner loyalty of any half-ton pickup."

One out of every six pickups are sold in Texas, so it makes sense—smart sense—why Ram would dedicate an entire trim to the state.

And dedicate it will—Texas emblems will be placed in and on the truck, further enhancing its Texan pride.

The Lone Star will be based on the Ram 1500 Big Horn model. Upgrades and a redesigned interior add to this special edition, and customers will have the option to choose from four interior trim levels along with a five- or six-passenger cabin.

With it comes 18-inch aluminum wheels, fog lamps, a bright grille surround, a 60/40-split rear seat, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Among the standard amenities is a range of options for buyers, such as the

  • 4x4 Off Road Group: 1-inch suspension lift, four corner suspension optional
  • Bed Utility Group: bed cleats and rails
  • Protection Group: skid plates and tow hooks

As far as power goes, the Ram 1500 Lone Star comes equipped with the 5.7L HEMI® V8 or the new HEMI® eTorque mild hybrid powerhouse. There's also the 3.6L Pentastar® V6 with eTorque that will be made available later on.

With 12,750 pounds of towing muscle available, this Ram truck is suited for just about any adventurer or worker in the heart of America's truck country.

Ram dealerships all over Texas will start selling the Lone Star by March.
