The Bear Grylls Adventure is Set to Combine Wilderness Survival with Theme Park

Visitors will have the chance to take on some of nature's toughest challenges in The Bear Grylls Adventure.

Ever wanted to climb a dangerous mountain, dive into the ocean's depths or put your wilderness skills to the test without having to worry about the actual wilderness part? This may be just the vacation destination for you. Backcountry survivalist, and television's most appropriately-named star, Bear Grylls, has teamed with Merlin Entertainments to open The Bear Grylls Adventure.

The attraction will offer patrons a chance to recreate many of Grylls' real-life survival scenarios. It's set to open in 2018 in Birmingham, England. To promote the opening announcement, Grylls hopped of a helicopter onto Cnicht Mountain in Snowdonia.

According to a release from Merlin Entertainments, "visitors can choose their greatest challenges from incredible headline activities, which include—Dive, Climb, iFLY (indoor skydiving) and the highest free-roam high ropes in Europe. In addition, guests will be given entry to Basecamp, where everyone can learn and practice the skills needed for any great adventure in a selection of four group and individual challenges."

Sure, when it comes to surviving in the wild, nothing beats the real thing. But if we're talking theme parks, I'll take The Bear Grylls Adventure over roller coasters and Ferris wheels any day. Although, a funnel cake on the side of a mountain would be nice.
