Spring Break is meant to be a time of relaxation and fun in the sun. Unfortunately, some people missed the memo. While the typical worst occurrence is dealing with drunk patrons, residents and tourists faced something far greater the other day. A popular city in Florida faced five separate shooting incidents, quickly turning the Spring Break festivities chaotic and deadly.

DailyMail shared details about the chaos that broke out at this popular Spring Break destination. This past weekend, the destination was faced with five separate shooting incidents. To make matters worse, all these acts of gun violence occurred over the span of just three days. Video footage of one of the incidents showed thousands of people running away and screaming as they fled down Daytona Beach.
Although none of the shootings occurred directly on the beach, WFTV reported that "two shootings on Saturday were beachside." In addition to the beachside violence, there was also an issue at a local bar. The outlet reported that a fight broke out at Joint Bar on Seabreeze, which resulted in shots being fired. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from that altercation.
Unfortunatley, that luck did not continue. Just one hour after that incident, someone was shot outside of a Crunch Fitness. All the victims of the first four shootings are expected to fully recover. Then, a fifth shooting incident occurred on Sunday. The Daily Mail shared that "Port Orange Police responded to a call of a shooting off Country Lane," when officers located the suspect.
The Fifth Incident
The shooter fled in a vehicle, resulting in a pursuit. After a tireless pursuit, the suspect crashed his vehicle, but his debauchery was not over. The suspect opened fire on the officers, striking Police Officer Jake Fessenden twice. When police returned fire, they managed to strike the suspect, but that did not deter him from continuing to flee on foot. From there, he "attempted to steal a police vehicle, reportedly entered the vehicle electronically, and caused it to catch fire."
Eventually, the flames proved to be too much, and the suspect fled the burning car. He is now being treated for both gunshot wounds and severe burns, while the officer underwent surgery for his gunshot wounds. The suspect was last reported to be in critical condition, while Officer Fessenden is expected to recover.
