Scout, an Instagram-famous dog, has sadly passed away at the age of 8. Scout frequently appeared on the Instagram account Dog Friendly SLC. Sadly, the golden retriever passed away on March 30.
"It's with the heaviest of hearts that I share Scout crossed the rainbow bridge this morning," read the tribute. "He was fine until he wasn't and we suspect cancer was ravaging his body unbeknownst to everyone. So much of my identity is wrapped up in him — I don't remember who I was before this goofy boy stole my heart and all my free time. It's been the greatest honor of my life to share him with you over the past 8 years."
Kristy Chenoweth confirmed on GoFundMe that Scout had passed away. Kristy launched the fundraiser with plans to put up a public memorial for her pet. She wants to give the community the chance to mourn Scout and remember the good times they had.
Scout Has Died
"Since the very first day Dog Friendly SLC launched, Scout was there, nose first, ready to explore every corner of this city we all love," read the description. "Scout wasn't just a dog. He was a community. He was also, if we're being honest, a full blown celebrity and he knew it. He walked into every park, every trail, every gathering like he was fully aware that people had been waiting for him. And the thing is, they had."
Following the passing of the animal, several fans mourned his loss on social media.
"Sending all the love. Rest peacefully buddy ?" one wrote.
"We are so sorry to see this ? it is always so tough losing a member of the family," another shared. "Scout's memory will live on in the wonderful community you have created in his honor ??"
Yet another wrote, "Sending you so much love. What a great life he had.. and we were so lucky that you shared him with us. We are heartbroken ?"
