This Florida panther sighting is a little too close for comfort.
Fred Lehman was spending the day in Big Cypress National Preserve when he crossed paths with this hefty Florida panther. As you can see in the video below, the close encounter was pretty intense.
Watch and see this beautiful animal up close.
RARE PANTHER SIGHTING: A hunter was quietly waiting in the Bear Island area of Big Cypress National Preserve, hoping a deer would cross his path. Instead, a very large #panther appeared right in front of him! It's a rare sight, as there are an estimated 120 to 230 adult and subadult Florida panthers remaining, according to MyFWC.STORY: http://bit.ly/2BUJolt

While sightings of the panthers are becoming more common, getting that close to one during the day is very rare. These animals are typically shy, but just like their cousins to the north, they can do some serious damage to a human.
You can even here the guy's breathing get pretty heavy during the video. My guess is he was very relieved when the cat decided to continue down the road instead of stopping for a snack.
