Randy Newberg takes some time to show us how to hunt elk every year by planning ahead and knowing all the tag options available.
Many of us can count on the option of hunting deer every year, as tags are readily available. When it comes to elk, it can be a little more challenging.
Good news is you can definitely improve your odds if you are willing to be a bit more methodical and strategic in your planning, and Randy is here to tell you how.
There is some sage advice on how to ensure you draw a tag. As long as you start planning your options early and remain flexible in your hunt locations you can likely score a tag each and every year.
Some states, such as New Mexico, don't work off a points system, which is one of the reasons I entered their elk tag draw with two buddies for this coming season. Some states also offer over-the-counter tags, which if you are willing to wait, can be a final option to hunt this majestic game animal.
When it comes to detailed planning and DIY hunts Randy Newberg is the man so any advice I can draw from him will make me a better hunter with increased public land opportunities.
