Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid Debuts with Impressive Performance Ratings

Hybrids are notable for their efficiency, but what if they were equally powerful?

Porsche has released details regarding the new Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid, an SUV that expertly blends optimum fuel economy and a raring performance.

This vehicle is powered by a 3.0L twin-scroll turbo V6 that's worth 335 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque. The electric motor adds even more power, resulting in a combined 455 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. A 14.1-kWh battery pack is positioned under the cargo floor, which is said to hold 30 percent more charge than the previous model.

With that in mind, the new Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid is also slated to jump from 0-60 mph in just 4.7 seconds. It's quarter mile time? A mere 13.3 seconds.

By The Numbers

A full charge reportedly takes just 2.3 hours when hooked up to a 240-volt, 32-amp connection with the optional 7.2-kW on-board charger.

Sans the optional onboard charger, a full charge takes roughly 7.8 hours. You can keep tabs on the charging status on the Porsche Communication Management system and the Porsche Connect app. The Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid's performance is operated via an eight-speed automatic transmission and the Porsche Traction Management all-wheel drive.

A brand-new chassis and the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) roll stabilization system work together to produce agile driving dynamics. Selectable driving modes are equipped as well.

Strong Performance

Performance is a key component in the new Cayenne E-Hybrid. As such, Porsche outfitted this model with its new InnoDrive. This technology is akin to adaptive cruise control, but with a little more intelligence incorporated.

According to Porsche, "It predictively optimises your speed. With the aid of high-resolution navigation data and information supplied by the radar and video sensors, Porsche InnoDrive determines speed limits and topographical road features, such as gradients or corner radii, along your route even before you reach them - and modifies the gearshift strategy and speed."

And for the first time ever from Porsche, the Cayenne E-Hybrid offers a head-up display. It presents speed, tachometer readings and navigation conveniently on the windshield.

Additional new elements in this hybrid SUV include massage seats, a heated windscreen and 22-inch light metal wheels.

The Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid is set for roll-out in early 2019.
