The Northeast got slammed with a historic blizzard earlier this week. Certain areas received more than 20 inches of snow, and thousands lost power. Luckily, roads are now clear, and people are out moving about, but that doesn't mean everyone is choosing safety. People were enraged after seeing a Rhode Island driver who opted to take to the streets with a mountain of snow on top of their SUV.
Rhode Island Driver Receives Backlash For Mountain Of Snow On Top Of Car

In case you live in a state that doesn't receive too much snow, let me fill you in. Cleaning off your car means cleaning off your entire car. You have to remove the snow from your front and back windshields, all the windows, and the roof of your car.
If you fail to remove the snow from the roof of your vehicle, you run the risk of it sliding off during the drive. That can be dangerous because it can block your view or fly off onto another vehicle and block their line of sight.
Although most people understand and follow this rule, one Rhode Island driver thought the rules didn't apply to them. Footage obtained by WPRI shows the SUV taking to the road with a mountain of snow atop it.
The Community Rages
The video soon went viral, and many people were not pleased with this Rhode Island driver's decision. The video showed that the driver had cleared off the windows of the driver's side of the vehicle. However, when it came to the windshield, the driver just made a small enough hole for them to see out of.
When it came to the rest of the windshield and the roof of the vehicle, those remained untouched. Although it was clear that the driver could see where they were going, it did not remove the risk of their decision. As previously stated, one intense break or turn, and that snow could slide right off. This would either block the driver's view or fall onto the road or another car, causing a hazard.
Despite the travel ban being lifted in Rhode Island, the outlet warned its viewers against driving a vehicle covered in snow like this one. "The travel ban has lifted, but do NOT drive if your car looks like this one. It's important to clear your vehicle completely before hitting the road," They titled the video.
Also, many people commented their thoughts on the post, and they were not happy. Here are some of the comments left under the Facebook video.
- "Apparently, common sense doesn't fall from the sky as snow does."
- "Definitely someone who was complaining that their street wasn't plowed yesterday at noon."
- "Somebody missed the brain train."
