New Mako Shark Record in Georgia Put up Quite the Fight

Georgia crew lands a mako shark record in Bryan County, and not without having to work for it.

This mako shark record catch weighed over 400 pounds and nearly doubled the existing record set in 1975.

Watch this clip and witness the ferociousness of this shark as a crew tries to land it.

The mako shark record breaker weighed 440 pounds, which nearly doubles the previous record of Harry Wooley when he hooked a 228 lb. shark.

Dan Owsley, captain of the boat on the record-setting day, had this to say about the catch, "I'm very proud of my crew working together and being a part of this catch. It's the second state record off my boat in two years, and that's pretty incredible."

This is the second time this crew has set a record in two years, in April2016, angler Tyler Deal landed a 40-pound, 8-ounce. blackfin tuna. Owsley thinks he's worth having on the boat, "I'm beginning to see that a 'Tyler' is good luck!"
