Music Icon Opens Up About Viral Moment a Cricket Landed on Her Mid-Performance

A music icon is opening up about that viral moment when a cricket landed on her. The incident happened while she was singing mid-performance.

Jennifer Lopez was performing in the summer of 2025 when a very large cricket landed on her. It immediately made a splash online. Now, a year later, Lopez is opening up about what happened on the SmartLess podcast. She said that she was singing when she felt something on her neck at a concert in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

"It was like the slow moment in the show, you know," the music icon said. "Usually, I'm dancing around and doing the choreography and like a f——-g bikini and a g-string and whipping my hair around, and it's a good time." Things became really quiet, and she said that she saw bugs flying around.

"And so everything is dark except for me, and I'm singing," Lopez continued. "And as I'm singing, the audience starts screaming. And usually they do react in this moment because I stop, and it's a slow song."

Music Icon Talks Cricket Moment

She said that she was doing a dance that ends end ina. dramatic pause. Rather than applauding, the audience started screaming at her. She was confused about what was happening.

"I was like, 'what's happening?'" she said. "And I'm just there, and this huge bug is just crawling up my neck and I feel it." And what's worse is that the music icon couldn't immediately knock the insect away. She had to stay still while she was singing the last lines of her song.

Lopez describes the incident as horrible.

"But that was crazy, it was kind of horrible," Lopez added. "Like if I would have known it was that, I probably [would have been] screaming and yelling."

However, at the moment, Lopez tried to downplay the incident. "It was tickling me," Lopez said.
