Leupold Debuts New Line of Performance Eyewear

Hunters and shooters have preferred Leupold clarity for decades, and now they can enjoy it every day.

Leupold made a big splash at SHOT Show 2020 when it unveiled its new line of performance eyewear, a huge expansion for the world-renowned optics producer.

Now available to consumers, these glasses come in five different styles—the Katmai, the Becnara, the Packout, the Switchback and the Tracer.

Using 113 years of optics manufacturing expertise, Leupold uses lightweight, ballistic-rated materials and scratch-resistant polarized lenses to create a view as clear as any of its sporting optics.

"We make the lightest, clearest and most rugged rifle scopes, spotting scopes, binoculars and rangefinders you'll ever use," said Tim Lesser, Vice President of Product Development for Leupold & Stevens, Inc. "Our products outperform the competition under the harshest conditions, without fail. Now, with the Performance Eyewear line, we're applying that same expertise to a new line of optics, so you can experience Leupold's rugged clarity every day."

Katmai

Leupold calls the Katmai glasses the choice for any adventurer. These glasses are as lightweight as they are rugged, and boast top-shelf clarity.

However, they do not meet the ANSI Z87.1 high-velocity impact standards for eye protection.

Becnara

The Becnara glasses also lack the the ANSI Z87.1 high-velocity impact standards as more of a lifestyle option. However, they do group ruggedness, clarity and polarization.

Packout

The Packout design gives hunters a sleek look, while also featuring the ANSI Z87.1 high-velocity impact protection rating to guarantee safe shooting in the field and at the range.

Switchback

The Switchback boasts all the same features as the Packout, but with a slightly wider frame for you larger-faced hunters out there.

Tracer

The Tracer design is for the range rats who can't shoot enough. These boast the ANSI Z87.1 high-velocity impact protection as well, and also offer an additional pair of interchangeable yellow and clear lenses for a variety of conditions.

While the five styles vary in terms of shooting protection, they all employ polarized lenses to fight off glare.

Every pair also gets scratch-resistant Diamondcoat-hardened lenses, as well as Leupold's Guard-ion hydrophobic coating to shield against dirt, moisture and fingerprints.

Hunters and shooters will also take a liking to the no-slip bridge design, which keeps glasses secured to the face for long-term comfort.

"Leupold consumers expect the highest-quality optics in the world, and we delivered," said Product Line Manager Zach Bird. "We designed the performance eyewear line for every possibility. Whether you're on the range each weekend, hiking a ridge looking for a trophy bull or just driving to work every day, our performance eyewear line has something for you—and every model is designed, machined and assembled right here in the USA."
