It Took More Than 50 Hours to Plow a Single Target in New York After Blizzard Hits Northeast

Things were so bad in New York this week due to the blizzard that it took more than 50 hours to plow a single Target parking lot. That's with multiple people working to clear the streets.

"I've never seen it this bad before," said Gershon Benegas, who has worked for more than a decade in the snowplow business. He told New York Post it took him twice as long to clear out a single Target parking lot. More than 31 inches of snow were reported for the area, breaking a local record. With all that winter chill, locals are more than over it.

"In my 27 years of life, this is by far the most snow I've ever seen," said Catalina Rojo, a healthcare worker.  "The snow comes up to my stomach, it towers over my dog, that has never happened before."

However, not everyone is freaking out over the weather. Some seem rather neutral to the whole thing. Several people in Long Island mentioned that weather like this was par for the course. Take Mario Blanco for instance. He hit the streets in just boots and his basketball shorts to shovel out the snow in front of his house.

The Long Island native says that the recent blizzard reminds him of snowstorms from the past for better or worse.

"This is that old school snow," said Mario Blanco. I guess if you survive one blizzard, then you survived them all. Meanwhile, county officials have their work cut out for them. With all the snow, they've been stretched thin trying to clear out all of the roads. It's an ongoing process for them. Officials appreciate locals having patience as they try to get things back into a working order.

"We have faced a historic snowfall and came together to confront this massive storm," Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine said. "Our crews continue to address the aftermath."
