Do we have a right to hunt? The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and others would say that yes, hunting is a right, a God given right and responsibility.
Hunting rights have become a hot topic in the outdoors community. There have been a number of states that have put or tried to put the right to hunt into their state constitutions, and it seems to be a regular topic of conversation in some hunting circles these days.
But it's probably not fair to say that it's a new issue. The right to hunt has been an issue for many, many years. It's only recently that the right to hunt concept has had any significant opposition as an idea and practice.
It is with the rise of the social media fueled anti-hunting movement that it has come to the fore again, as pushback from the hunting community has justifiably responded to anti-hunting hysteria, deceit and misinformation. To that end we are seeing more active and righteous declarations that we do indeed have the right to hunt.
This promotional video released by the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation is the most recent, and it's a pretty good one.
The video is short and offers no narration other than the printed word, and that word is concise and authoritative.
Throughout time our existence has relied on it,
Has depended on it.For as long as there have been heavens we have hunted.
It's who we are.
It's what we do.Both man and woman,
Both young and old,
Were born to hunt.It feeds our family.
It feeds our soul.
It is our responsibility.
It is our passion.
And it is our God given right to hunt.
It would be good if more videos were produced with a similar pro-hunting message. The anti's need to be pushed back.
